“In essence, true success is the journey
and not the goal.” (unknown author)
“The highest reward for man’s toil is not what he gets for it,
but what he becomes by it.” (John Ruskin)
Getting ourselves known as much as we can – should be – a natural demand for everyone. Exploring Life and opportunities around us, to take out the most of us should be taught in every school ..and everywhere else..
We doing decisions, movements, results all the time, and there are actions, that we make only once in a lifetime. There are things, we repeat continually, in a loop circle, which only ends at the very End of our Life (eating, sleeping, talking, feeling, loving, etc). Some of our tasks are axiomatic, such as going to toilet, when we need to, or writing down information that we don’t want to forget. Other (more complex) tasks requires hard decisions.
By tracking some of my activities for years, i seeking for an overall view about not only myself, but the functioning of humankind overally. I believe that experiencing it is different than just reading about it.
I am impressed by the fact, how large amount of actions we do through a Lifetime. Even more how many are unnecessary or insincere might be of them. The classical ones, watching TV instead of living our real Life, and so on. By looking at the big number of biological actions we do, such as sneezing, yawning, dousing, peeing, sexual intercoursing, and even contemplating.. Have we wondered about how much time and energy they need through an enitre Lifetime? To maintain ourselves, to keep ourselves prepared, ready for those moments, which happens only once, twice, few times in our Life, the really special, exclusive moments. The top of the hill, top of the Maslow pyramid. Let’s admit, that human Life is quite uneconomical, in other words: we have to eat, drink tenths, hundred kilograms/pounds of food between two really memorable, special moment of our Life. We go to toilet hundreds or thousands (or some of us maybe hundred-thousands ; ) ) times between two memorable, unique moment of our Life.
So the COST PER SPECIAL MOMENT (CPSM), the COST OF QUALITY TIME (COQT) is extremely high!
I try to Do my Life by keeping this fact in my mind all the time. It helps a lot. Try it! If once we get aware of the expensiveness of our personal Life, we will feel, that the number of our Special Moments start to increase tremendously.
The ability of converting not so special things to Special
When i started to make photographs of all the food and drink i consume – in 2006 – i felt nothing special. But after a while, (1-2 years..) things started to change, my relation to food – so thus to Life - irrevocably changed, and improved. Simple food started to be treasure for me. It’s value has multiple-d, since i had to work for it twice: first i have to earn money to buy it, after i had to take a photo of it all the time (not saying about the preparation of it, if it’s not already-made for me). So it slowly became a “strategy” for me. To make Moments of my Life even more valuable, i get myself working more for them. And it REALLY works %) Let’s learn more from our eastern mates (if you are not already one of them) who ‘plays with’ hinduism, taoism, buddhism.. et cetera, et cetera.
My opinion is, that in civilized, consumption-based society, people generally don’t “ask” important questions about their real identity, about their real(ly desired) goals. Please. Do-Some-Thing!
